The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is one of Pakistan’s largest and most significant social safety net initiatives. Established in July 2008 by the Government of Pakistan, BISP was named in honor of Benazir Bhutto, the country’s former Prime Minister, to continue her vision of empowering the poor and vulnerable segments of society. Its primary objective is to alleviate poverty, reduce income inequality, and promote social and economic inclusion across the nation.
